Cowley Carnival and the Built Environment Students

Last Friday (6 May) students on the Built Environment Foundation (at Oxford Brookes) exhibited some of the work they have been doing for the Cowley Road Carnival. The carnival started in 2000, aiming to give Cowley Road its groove back. Watch a video of the 2015 events below:



This year, our students have come up with strategies to promote public awareness of the benefits of the Cowley Road Carnival to both the local community and to Oxford. Their ideas emerged from a research project which included a street survey across Oxford to find out what people knew and valued about the Cowley Road Carnival. This has inspired a range of different ideas including the greater use of social media; interactive maps and apps and finally a range of tools to help Carnival goers get the most out of the event.
